Allie Floyd is the 2021 President for PROPEL Portland. She is a passionate and creative individual with experience in strategic planning and content creation. She started out three years ago as a marketer before she became President


PROPEL is a community board within the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce and operates as a non-profit.  The board is made up of young professionals in the greater Portland area from diverse backgrounds. 


Allie and all other board members who work on marketing and events all function in a volunteering capacity.

Allie shared that the board’s marketing team, comprising five people, is responsible for events marketing, social media marketing, and digital marketing.

  • Stay Relevant

Growth leaders need to stay relevant and adapt quickly to ensure that their businesses survive the pandemic wave. Allie shared that Propel holds an event annually, usually with more than 300 attendees, where they celebrate young professionals and local businesses in the area. 


However, due to the effects of the pandemic, the board had to switch the ceremony online. And this led to it becoming a "Virtual Award Show." 


Marketing leaders should embrace the recent changes happening in the world with a sense of creativity and innovation. This is key to staying relevant in business. 

  • Build Partnerships and Collaborations

Be enthusiastic about building stronger partnerships with other businesses and organizations. Relationships promote the brand, add value to clients and ensure a booming growth in business.

Allie shared that working together will help many brands propel themselves forward for growth in 2021.

  • Data review

Allie revealed that her team had a meeting shortly after the significant virtual event where each member of her squad analyzed what they thought went well, what didn't go well and how to improve performance. This analysis was documented and will provide a template and insight to track the board’s growth in the following year.

  • Content planning

For businesses to succeed in 2021, growth leaders should be strategic with content planning for the brand. Marketers with the resources can consider partnering with brand ambassadors and influencers to reach the target audience and increase their brand's visibility.
